Hey there! Join us for Intro to Web Dev, where we'll cover the basics of building websites and creating awesome online content!

What is TutorD Scholars?TutorD Scholars is a 501 (c)(3) Non Profit apprenticeship and mentorship program focused on serving urban communities; specifically entrepreneurs, business owners, technical professionals and aspiring youth.  We focus on connecting professionals in career fields and spaces that are in high demand and cutting edge, supplying scholars with the opportunity to develop and cultivate 22nd Century skills and tools to empower and forge their future as they envision. We focus on connecting our talented volunteers and eager scholars together to provide a safe and inviting space for the facilitation of the learning experience in an environment that is both welcoming and stimulating also making sure to provide scholars with individuals that they can identify with which will help them envision themselves in that position in life as they navigate their environments on a day to day basis.  And also providing the opportunity to develop skills that they then can capitalize on immediately and start making money and continue to grow in sustainable career paths.  Volunteers will provide guidance on this journey through our apprenticeships and workshops; all the while developing mentor/mentee relationships in a natural way. Six-Week Apprenticeship: Think It, Build It, Produce ItEducators: Brandon Bailey Supporting TAs: Herbert Files IV, Patrick Babb Jr. <h3>22nd Century Skill: Collaboration</h3>Scholars work as a team, giving and receiving feedback, prioritizing group goals, negotiating, and discussing issues. <h3>Product Release Party</h3>Scholars will create either a business website or a portfolio, evaluated for professional quality, audience authenticity, community value, and functionality. <h3>Weekly Breakdown</h3>Week 1: The Intro<ul><li>Objectives: Understand UI design patterns, set up Jekyll, use development tools.</li><li>Activities: Create an About Us page, introduce web basics.</li></ul>Week 2: A Software Engineer's Experience<ul><li>Objectives: Understand HTML, CSS, JS, and DNS.</li><li>Activities: Internet functionality lecture, deploy websites to GitHub.</li></ul>Week 3: Design Thinking<ul><li>Objectives: Develop Contact Us page, understand HTML/CSS structure.</li><li>Activities: Choose project ideas, deploy to GitHub.</li></ul>Week 4: Products and Production<ul><li>Objectives: Understand web product design, APIs.</li><li>Activities: Product design lectures, project discussions.</li></ul>Week 5: Flow State<ul><li>Objectives: Understand the flow state in development.</li><li>Activities: Finalize websites, participate in individualized learning.</li></ul>Week 6: Final Touches &amp; Product Release Party<ul><li>Objectives: Reflect on lessons, understand feedback.</li><li>Activities: Create a feedback form, prepare for the product release party.</li></ul> An optional, less structured workshop for those unable to follow the 6-week program, focusing on tech impact and positive learning experiences.Are you ready to dive into the exciting world of web development?
