WE SHOULD BE DANCING

The Auxiliary was organized in 1962 to enhance the patient's healthcare experience through all their years and health care needs. From the first cry of a newborn to a loved one's last breath the Auxiliary strives to provide extra care and comforts to each patient and their family needing the healthcare services at the award winning Sentara Williamsburg Regional Medical Center. Our signature program provides mammograms for 40+/month uninsured women. We also provide scholarships for those entering the health care field and current staff members furthering their expertise, pediatric activity bags for the ER and Pediatric patients,  hand-knit baby caps for every newborn and chemo caps for those undergoing treatment. The Unique Boutique provides free wigs and hats/scarves for chemo patients. In 2017 the Auxiliary committed to funding a FIRST IN VIRGINIA MOBILITY PARK  for those recovering from orthopedic or stroke related gait issues.

<P>Our only community fundraiser, “We Should Be Dancing” on Friday, October 20th, highlights the golden era of Rock & Roll with songs you know by heart from the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s. Joe Hertzler and Linda George Hertzler, local community leaders and dance enthusiasts, will be the Honorary Chairs of the Dance; they are a delight to watch on the dance floor. McAuley Hall, the retro style gym at Walsingham Academy, will magically transport you back in time when life really was simpler! Even non-dancers will enjoy the music and the dance exhibitions. Alan Hedpepath of "A Step Above" will spin your favorite songs which you can request or dedicate in the online ticket section. Shorty's Diner and Food Trolley will provide "comfort food" for this TGIF event. Vouchers for the Cash bar, Wine, Beer and Mixed Drinks, are available online or when checking in.
