We Rise Above is a new puppet show developed in collaboration with children’s librarians from the Detroit Public Library and artists from the Detroit Puppet Company.
Exploring stories from the lives of American heroes John Lewis, Mae Jemison and Amanda Gorman, We Rise Above illustrates how the power of words and images inspired these 3 historic figures to create change in the world, empower others and increase equality for Black Americans. Using puppets that range from oversized pop-up books to hand puppets to Czech marionettes, this show is appropriate for ages 5 and up. www.detroitpuppetcompany.com
