Tell me about the live show experience, We Press Play Release 2

Note: all ticket types classify as General Admission to the show. The venue has limited seating.

The live show experience for We Press Play Release 2 is an immersive dance party experience: animated dance instructions project onto the stage wall of Westport Bowery, the host venue, and instructions focus on audience members interacting with each other. Musicbyskippy hits play on his laptop, hops off stage to be with the audience, and the show begins. Other surprises are planned throughout the show.

Doors open at 7:30 pm. The show starts at 8:00 pm and runs approximately 90 minutes with a 10-minute intermission in between music sets. The end time (around 9:30 pm) accommodates travel and social plans for folks to start or end their Friday night accordingly.

This show is also musicbyskippy's 29th birthday celebration! Giving tips/donations or purchasing merchandise or a ticket to the show is a gift that keeps on giving, sustaining musicbyskippy's full-time performance and production career.

“We Press Play Release 2” is the third album from musicbyskippy. The “We Press Play” music collection is part of an ongoing release series, expanding the artist’s aptitudes for storytelling into strengthening his instrumental work. The music focuses on dance beats, and live show experiences are immersive with musicbyskippy wearing a custom-made helmet, performing artists popping up in the crowd, and unreleased songs being showcased only at the live experiences of the project. Album and show influences include KAYTRANADA, Stromae, & Glass Animals.

The featured song on the event banner is the third song on the album, "Skippy Shuffle." It's also the live version, sampling what to expect at live experiences of the release shows.

Tell me about the artist, musicbyskippy

Performer, producer, and beatboxing specialist Luke "Skippy" Harbur is a vivacious artist known for his cross-pollinated brand of alternative music touching on hip hop, Broadway, EDM, and singer-songwriter influences. His project musicbyskippy lives among music, theater, and poetry; shows are similar to attending live comedy and musicals, focusing on identity and community building. There are different live experiences all built for multigenerational audiences.

The Overland Park, Kansas native is based out of Kansas City, Missouri, developing songwriting, beatboxing, singing, beat production, rapping, & looping skills to express his mission: performances promote safe havens for authenticity. Since November 2021 he’s written, produced, and published over 50 songs and sold over 1,000 tickets to 8 original productions. He is a 2024 Librettist Fellow for Lyric Opera of Kansas City & No Divide KC, writing an operetta alongside a composer, as well as a 2024 Heartland Arts Fellow for Starlight Theatre & Heartland Arts KC, writing scenes and lyrics about restorative justice alongside seven other artists. Other client commissions include music festival Boulevardia, Kansas City Repertory Theatre, and Quixotic.

His motivation comes from receiving a life-saving liver transplant at the age of 11 months, making performances testaments to sharing his life and near-death experiences.

Tell me about the venue, Westport Bowery

The Westport Bowery is a dream event space for anyone wanting to create lasting memories for family, friends & fans! The venue is located behind Westport Flea Market, with a bar available at the venue and food available for purchase at the Market.

If you are in need of ADA accomodations, there is a flat floor from the entrance of the Westport Flea Market to get to the back of the building, where the Westport Bowery is located.
