GTCASA is a not-fot-profit whose mission is to facilitate the intellectual, social and emotional development of the gifted children of South Australia. GTCASA organises educational events for children, and those who educate and care for them.

Maker Marketeers is where Sustainability meets Entrepreneurship. Over the 4 week course, students will transform landfill-bound materials.

Glenunga International High School

We Make Meggie is the founder of We Make and has spend the last 24 years working in education including primary school teaching and operating a Martial Arts school. Meggie has a passion for designing curriculum and helping to make complex problems manageable for her students. We Make specialises in combining sustainable projects with community building. Maker Marketeers is where Sustainability meets Entrepreneurship. Over the 4 week course, students will transform landfill-bound materials into unique, sellable products while learning design thinking, product development, and marketing. Each week focuses on different aspects of creating and selling their products, culminating in a market day where kids showcase and "sell" their creations. Week 1 - August 10th: Intro to Design Thinking &amp; the Landfill Problem Students will get a crash course in design thinking as they try to tackle one of Earth's biggest challenges - how to reduce the number of items heading to the landfill. Students will be encouraged to use this process to create a product that minimizes waste. Week 2 - August 17th: What Makes a Product Sellable? Students will begin thinking about what makes a good product, conduct market research, hold a focus group and build prototypes. They will also conduct a pricing analysis and get a crash course in profitability. Week 3 - August 31st: The Art of Marketing and Selling What makes a good business name? What is a brand? How can I package my product to promote sales? Why is signage so important? Students will tackle these questions as they create a stock of inventory to sell. Week 4 - September 14th: Ready for Market Our final week will give students the opportunity to brush up on any topics from previous weeks and create their own mini-market stall. The final 30 minutes of the day we will welcome family and friends to shop (with provided tickets) at our Mini Maker Market. Our Young Marketeers will get to practice their selling skills as they attract customers to their booth.
