Festivalt is a program of performance and visual art that celebrates and investigates the complexities of the contemporary Jewish Polish landscape.

„We Keep Coming Back” is a theatre performance that tells the true story of a trip to Poland that Michael Rubenfeld took with his mother, Mary Berchard and Katka Reszke (Polish-Jewish scholar and author of “Return of the Jew”) as their guide. The trip is set in motion by Michael’s hope that returning to the “horror” of Poland would somehow help his mother and him heal. The plot, however, takes an unexpected turn when Michael and Mary discover a vibrant contemporary world of Jewish life in Poland and non-Jewish Poles eager to help them on their journey. „We Keep Coming Back” is presented in a media rich environment, incorporating video footage, archival material, and live and recorded music. The play is performed by Michael Rubenfeld and Mary Berchard – real-life son and mother – as well as Katka Reszke. Created by Michael Rubenfeld and Sarah Garton Stanley with Mary Berchard and Katka Reszke. Directed by Sarah Garton Stanley. Scenography by Trevor Schwellnus. Performed by Mary Berchard, Katka Reszke and Michael Rubenfeld.  Production Stage Managed by Kalina Janik.

 *** ››We Keep Coming Back‹‹ – spektakl teatralny opowiadający prawdziwą historię podróży do Polski, którą Żyd kanadyjski Michael Rubenfeld odbył ze swoją mamą, Mary Berchard w towarzystwie badaczki relacji polsko-żydowskich, autorki książki ››Powrotu Żyda‹‹, Katki Reszke. Michael i Mary wyruszają w drogę z nadzieją, że powrót do „horroru” – a tak właśnie Polska funkcjonowała w ich rodzinnej pamięci, pomoże naprawić im nie najlepsze wzajemne relacje. Kiedy jednak odkrywają współczesne życie żydowskie w miejscu, w którym w ogóle nie spodziewali się go znaleźć – czeka ich życiowa niespodzianka. Niejedna. Aktorami są rzeczywiści uczestnicy wydarzeń. Twórcy Michael Rubenfeld i Sarah Garton Stanley wraz z Mary Berchard i Katką Reszke. Reżyseria: Sarah Garton Stanley. Scenografia: Trevor Schwellnus.
