In 1997, at the age of 23, I was able to purchase my first home but by the age of 24, I experienced a foreclosure, bankruptcy, & car repossession in that order. I remember wanting to do better but I didn't know where to start. I remember looking back over that year wondering "how did I get here", "how did I lose everything". This resulted in renting an apartment for 4 years, applying for credit and getting denied feeling shame and defeated. I even paid people to "fix" my credit all to learn...the only person that can FIX my credit was ME.
