About this event

  • Event lasts 1 hour 30 minutes

Writers Against the War on Gaza present a reading & discussion from the latest issue of The New York War Crimes. The Land Day edition commemorates the 49th anniversary of general strikes led by Palestinian and Israeli Arab citizens on March 30, 1976, against confiscations of large swaths of land by Israeli occupation. Over 300 demonstrators were detained, 50 wounded, and 6 Palestinians killed by Israeli forces: Raja Abu Raya, Khader Khalaileh, Khadija Shawahna, Khair Yassin, Raafat Zuhairi, and Mohsen Taha. For the last 49 years, March 30 is remembered across Palestine as Land Day.

Community activists, writers, and contributors to the newest issue, will read and discuss at Beyond Baroque's Scott Wannberg Bookstore.
