Water 101 Workshop

The mission of the Water Education Foundation, an impartial, nonprofit organization, is to inspire understanding of water and catalyze critical conversations to build bridges and inform collaborative decision-making.Our history dates back to 1977 when California was in the second year of a major drought and water was at the forefront of the news. The Foundation’s articles of incorporation were filed on Feb. 27 of that year, creating a nonprofit, nonpolitical, tax-exempt educational organization. Today, the Sacramento-based Foundation remains a vital source of nonpartisan, in-depth information about water resource issues in California and the West. Taking a steady pulse of the water world, the Foundation provides a vast repertoire of educational materials, products and services such as our water tours, lectures, conferences, workshops, our flagshipWestern Waternews articles and Project WET (Water Education Today).

Learn the basics and beyond in this critical drought year from top water experts at our February workshop. Water 101, one of our most popular events, details the history, geography, legal and political facets of water in California as well as hot topics currently facing the state. This daylong event has an optional second half day geared toward water board directors.
