Warming: Dance Event

In partnership with the City of Santa Monica and Sustainable Works, Donna Sternberg & Dancers present the dance event, Warming.

Warming explores how climate change will affect both the earth in general and Santa Monica specifically, using the various elements of Tongva park to amplify the predictions.

The dance will be specifically created to utilize the site and will be inspired by the scientific data. The audience will follow the dancers throughout different sites at the park where there will be short dance sequences. For instance a sequence by the water elements in the park can focus on the artistry of the sculpture, the vital need for water and predicted water shortages and the resulting effects.

The performance will begin at the water element at the Ocean Avenue entrance to Tongva Park.

There will be a discussion following the performance with information about best practices to support environmental stewardship.

We encourage attendees to bring a picnic and network after the event.

This is a zero waste event.

Please bring your own water bottle. The City will not provide water but there are fountains throughout the park where you can refill water bottles.

NO alcoholic beverages are permitted at the park!

Ride, don't drive, if you can.

Take the bus or train to stay green. Tongva Park is well served by multiple Big Blue Bus lines (1,2,3,7,8,9,18) and by the Metro 134. The Metro Expo line, connecting Santa Monica with downtown and East LA, is a short 6-minute walk to the park. Try the Metro Trip Planner, the Transit app, or Google Maps to plan your route.

If you must drive, try to carpool.

This is a FREE event, however registration is required. Space is limited.
