Explore "Wild and Scenic Rivers" by boat! Enjoy guided paddles in beginner locations, with boats and gear provided. Locations will be across the watershed, highlighting outstanding natural and cultural values. The watershed was nationally designated in 2019, one of only 16 such rivers on the east coast.

Guides from the Wood-Pawcatuck Watershed Association and Water Wanderers, LLC are happy to provide these kayak trips free to the public, thanks to the Wood-Pawcatuck Wild and Scenic Rivers Stewardship Council. Four trips are planned in May.

Register here for May 19th, 1-4pm at Alton Pond Fishing Access, Hopkinton, RI. We will paddle up to an interesting old mill race that dead ends at the remains of the former Tefft Sawmill. The river winds through primarily forested area until it comes out to a marsh and the head of Alton Pond.

Participants must be 10 years old and older. Experience is suggested.

Kayaks, life jackets and paddles will be provided. Life jackets and closed toed shoes must be worn the entire time. Dress for the weather. Please arrive early. The group will launch by 1:20 pm and return around 3:45 pm.

Hazardous wind or rain will cancel the event. Provide an email address that you will check prior to the event.

If you must cancel for any reason, notify Kassi or use eventbrite. Then, waitlisted participants can be notified. Email kassi@wpwa.org
