Welcome to WalkSC! WalkSC is brought to you by the Rural Health and Nutrition Team with Clemson Extension in South Carolina. The goal of WalkSC is to increase your physical activity and complete a walking challenge in 12 weeks. WalkSC is a 12-week walking program based around personal step counting. During the program, you will learn more about physical activity, healthy eating, and natural areas around South Carolina. Each week you will receive an email from your program facilitator that contains your weekly walking challenge step goal. The step goals correspond to sections of the Palmetto Trail. Meet your step goals every week and you will have virtually walked the 500-mile Palmetto Trail spanning from upstate South Carolina to the Coast in 12 weeks! Why Join? Walking is a great form of physical activity that can keep you healthy throughout life. Research shows we are more likely to reach our health goals when we have accountability and support. WalkSC is here to offer support and motivate you to stay consistent with your walking goals. The purpose of WalkSC is to get you moving more - any amount of activity counts and is contributing towards good health. Do the best you can! W﻿here do I log my steps? WalkSC is self-paced and self-monitored ; you will track your progress throughout the program. You do not need to submit your steps to us. Track your activity in a way that works best for you. Steps can be counted with pen and paper, smartphone apps or wearable devices such as pedometers, smart watches, or Fitbit. Once enrolled your program facilitator can assist you in tracking your steps if you do not have access to any of these options.Y﻿ou can complete WalkSC as many times as you&#x27;d like. Each season provides different experiences and opportunities for personal growth!Always consult with your primary care provider before beginning a new exercise or diet regimen.
