Practicing Prayer
Activity 1: Pause. Process. Take the next 10-15 minutes in breakout groups answering the questions: 
1. What am I noticing or feeling? 
2. What am I wondering about? 
3. What is welling up in me? What is the Holy Spirit’s invitation to me? 
4. What am I not seeing?
5. What am I needing to surrender to the Lord? 
Activity 2: Write your own Lament prayer (need paper and pen)
Consider writing your own lament. Common components of a lament psalm are:
1. Direct address to God
2. A statement of complaint, sin, or problem
3. An appeal for specific action, intervention, or justice
4. A vow to praise God or trust in him
After writing it, share it is in groups of 2 -4 people. Read it aloud and listeners can respond, “Lord, hear our prayers.”
Activity 3: In closing, as we are committed to walking together in the unity we have in Christ, let us pray together in one voice, praying the Lord’s prayer spoken together in unison. 
The Lord’s Prayer
Our Father who art in heaven, 
hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come. 
Thy will be done 
on earth as it is in heaven. 
Give us this day our daily bread, 
and forgive us our trespasses, 
as we forgive those who trespass against us, 
and lead us not into temptation, 
but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom and the power, and the glory, 
forever and ever.
