Walking as Drawing as Dancing

In this workshop, we will dive into stage design, dance, and choreographic notation. Using the Drawing Herd benches as if they were Lego pieces, we'll create diverse compositions to explore with our bodies and document through drawing and collage. We'll explore how the design of public spaces impacts our movement and develop imaginative and playful ways to navigate these spaces.

This class is co-taught by Seattle-based dancer and choreographer Hannah Simmons.

Organized by

Drawing Herd is an observational workshop series hosted by Coco Allred. Taking place in downtown Seattle and parks across King County, the project aims to give participants new ways to cultivate attention with particular emphasis on the bioregion and historical context of each site. Each class is co-taught with special guests whose expertise ranges from parkour tricking to choreography to atmospheric science.

All classes are free and supplies are provided!

The 2024 series is funded by the Downtown Seattle Association, the City of Bellevue, and the City of Sammamish.
