Walk the Wilds - Bainbridge Island Plant Walk

Walk the Wilds is a community exploration of local, public land where we’ll take the time to identify edible & medicinal plants. These walks are kid friendly, however we may walk a mile or so. These group walks will be kept small to reduce impact on local parks, their parking lots, and make sure that we aren’t impeding others’ enjoyment of nature. Carpooling is always encouraged!

On our walk we’ll learn to identify Edible & medicinal local plants (many of them dubbed weeds!) - both native & invasive - and learn how to easily incorporate them into your life, any folklore or ancestral practices associated with them and ethics of harvesting. These walks last for about an hour and we can anticipate learning about 2-5 plants, trees or shrubs on each walk depending on the season.

We'll be meeting on the Country Club Road side of the park by the wood chip piles/open meadow entrance and completing the whole loop.

Our mission is to connect you deeply with nature, and that means stepping into the woods to learn directly from the plants themselves. We believe in the joy and power of knowing the local plants around you, understanding how to use them in your daily life, and forging a profound connection with the heartbeat of the earth. to do that, we offer local free plant walks, workshops, apprenticeships and classes on Bainbridge Island & around the Puget Sound.
