Established in January of 2018, SoHo Shakespeare Company was formed around Founding Artistic Director Alex Pepperman's compilation playThe Sisters, adapted from Shakespeare's Macbeth.  After which he joined up withThe Sisterscast member & classmate  Laura Yumi Snell, Founding Artistic Producer.  Together they have grown this company into a creative force challenging the theatrical perception of classic works.​

August 22nd - September 8th, 2024In a series of vignettes returning to a high-tempered union meeting, this Great Depression-era play explores the social repercussions of economic hardship. From workplace struggles to the stress placed on romantic relationships, this revival casts a harsh light on the realities of living under Captialism. <h3>The thrillingly real characters in Lefty struggle against villains we all know: the cost of living, corporate malpractice, institutional racism, antisemitism, and war profiteering.</h3> "This is really a play about self-determination. It is about people who are sick of waiting for hapless leaders to better their conditions and instead take it upon themselves to change the world for the better. In a moment of unprecedented insurgency of the American labor movement and activists across this country, it feels like the right time to do such a play," says Ben Natan, founder of Small Boat Productions and co-executive producer on Lefty.Theater-goers in 1935 saw the cruelty of their lives reflected in Lefty. Directed by Alex Pepperman; Assistant Director &amp; Associate Producer Ryanne Ello, co-Executive Producers Ben Natan &amp; Alex Pepperman.The cast includes Ahmad Maher,* John Austin*, Marcus Stewart, Maya Jeyam,* Michael Aurelio*, Milena Makse, Txai Frota, and Oscar Javier in principal roles. Angela Parra, Rodolfo Pedroni, Ben Natan,* and Cito Mena will understudy. ​The production team includes Oscar Javier (Musician &amp; Composer), Miranda Tejeda (Production Stage Manager), Alex Passikoff (Graphic Design).Produced by SoHo Shakespeare Company, 501(c)3 Nonprofit Organization; and Small Boat Productions. The show is approximately 70 minutes.
