The Barnsdall Arts Center (BAC), a program for adults, has been providing college level arts instruction at low cost for over 70+ years. This program of extremely popular classes in the visual and performing arts is presented by a select staff of instructors drawn from the art departments of prestigious colleges and universities, art schools, and other prestigious and exemplary institutions. Many of the instructors are working professionals whose work is exhibited locally, nationally and internationally.

<blockquote>This course explores the fundamentals of 2D and 3D design through the lens of collage and assemblage, experimenting with adhesives, image transfers, sewing, and drawing. Students will create works with a variety of mediums and techniques, focusing on form, color, texture. We will be exploring themes of sustainability and outsider art, as well as the social, political, and cultural contexts of materials. Emergency notifications are done by phone.</li><li>Read all of our policies carefully. By registering for a class, you agree to abide by all written policies. Failure to follow policy may result in not being able to register for following sessions.</li></ul>Registration Policies<ul><li>Due to our limited programming, please refrain from signing up for more than 2 classes during this registration period.</li><li>Due to high demand, students can only sign up for either one jewelry OR one ceramics class per session.</li><li>Lab fees will be collected during the registration process and are non-refundable.</li><li>The person whose name is registered is the only one who may attend the class.</li><li>Waitlists will start once the class becomes full. As spots become available, waitlisted students will receive an email through Eventbrite informing them they have 24 hours to register.</li></ul>Attendance Policy<ul><li>Beginning from Spring 2025, the first class meeting will be mandatory for all classes.</li><li>Students whose total attendance equals 50% or less will not be able to enroll for the following session.</li></ul>Cancellation Policy<ul><li>All classes are at risk of cancellation after the first class meeting if at least 50% of the class slots are not filled. In case of a cancellation due to low enrollment, students will be notified immediately by email. The lab fees will be refunded.</li></ul> Standard Appearance ReleaseI understand that the City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs (DCA) is dedicated to providing educational programs and arts training to young people and adults through its community arts and cultural facilities. Off Site Class SessionsFrom time to time class sessions for certain courses offered by the City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs in the Barnsdall Arts Center and Barnsdall Junior Arts Center will be held off site or in another location within the Park. It is the policy of the City of Los Angeles that students enrolled in these courses must indemnify the City of Los Angeles, its departments, divisions, elected officials, executives, managers, employees, and agents of all liability for damages or personal injury resulting from their enrolling and participation in the off-site activities of these courses.
