About this event

  • 4 hours 30 minutes

The Vietnamese Student Association at the University of Washington Bothell (VSAUWB) cordially invites you to our 8th Annual Culture Show: Nhớ Không

“In Vietnamese, the word for missing someone and remembering them is the same: nhớ. Sometimes, when you ask me over the phone, Có nhớ mẹ không? I flinch, thinking you meant, Do you remember me?

I miss you more than I remember you.”

Ocean Vuong, On Earth We're Briefly Gorgeous

Inspired by Ocean Vuong, this year’s culture show revolves around the dual meaning of Nhớ: missing or remembrance. We hope to express how missing someone and remembering them is one in the same. When we long for the warmth a person may bring, we reminisce on the moments shared together. These memories and the feeling of missing someone is how we continue to connect with those we love and care for. When you Nhớ someone, hold the emotions you feel close to your heart as you miss the person you remember, because they will always be there for you. If you keep the memory of someone alive they will live on as you go through your life. Through the laughter, tears, anger, and the love; every moment shared with the special people in your life makes a mark.
