VOTE: THE ENVIRONMENT

The Thomas R. Brown Foundation seeks to advance the use of economic principles in public and private decision making through strategic partnerships and educational programs. Our program goal is to equip teachers to increase student exposure to fundamental principles of economics in a neutral and nonpartisan way, and to help students develop an appreciation of how economic analysis applies to everyday choices as well as business and policy issues.

One-day workshop that will delve into the issue of The Environment, looking at it from the Conservative, Liberal, and Radical perspectives.

As a teacher, you have the most important job in our country because you inspire people to think critically an have a positive impact on the world. Voices On The Economy (VOTE) is a Tucson-based, award-winning program that teaches educators to present diverse perspectives in a balanced and accurate way so that students can make up their own minds about what they believe and find their own voices on the issues.Join us for a no-cost, one-day workshop that will delve into the issue of The Environment looking at it from the Conservative, Liberal, and Radical perspectives. What are their different policy ideas? (Direct Environmental Regulation? The Green New Deal? Cap and Trade?). How does each perspective analyze the problem? Hands-on exercises will bring the material alive, and we will provide you with lesson plans and other materials so you can bring these ideas back to your classrooms.No previous knowledge of economics is required. Appropriate for all subject areas and all levels of educators from middle school through university. Earn 7.0 hours of Professional Development.
