About this event

Silicon Valley Bicycle Coalition is excited to provide Valet Bike Parking at Sunnyvale's Farmer's Market. Valet Bike Parking is one of many ways that SVBC encourages people to bike to public events, and your volunteering supports that effort! Thank you in advance!

Shifts

There are 2 3-hour shifts taking place on eight Saturdays in June and July.

Shift 1 is 8:00 AM - 11:00 AM

Shift 2 is 11:00 AM - 2:00 PM

What to Expect:

Volunteering involves:

  • Greeting and explaining intake process to customers
  • Setting up and breaking down canopies and bike racks
  • Intake and registration of bicycles using QR codes
  • Wheeling bikes to/from bike racks
  • Lifting bicycles onto/off of bike racks
  • Monitoring bikes during event
  • Light data entry using QR codes
  • Providing a great customer service experience with a welcoming demeanor

If you sign up for a shift but are unable to attend, please notify us of your cancellation as early as possible. This helps us to try and fill the spot well before the event.

Qualifications

Volunteers must be able to do at least one of the following

  • Greet customers verbally or non-verbally.
  • Take tickets from, or hand tickets to, customers, and read numbers off the tickets.
  • Walk with bicycles and lift bicycles off the ground.

Minor Volunteers

Volunteers aged 13 to 18, who are not accompanied by a parent or legal guardian are required to digitally sign and send in advance our Minor Consent Form to eleni@bikesiliconvalley.org. If this is a hardship, it is an option to bring a signed hard copy of the form to the shift supervisor the day of the event. Volunteers under the age of 13 must also be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian to volunteer.

Parents/Guardians, if your child is coming with you to volunteer, the expectation is that they can be independent and support the bike parking program without your need to supervise them the entire time. You will be working together but must be able to leave them unattended at times. If you are unsure if this is an age appropriate volunteer activity for your child, please contact the Bike Parking Manager at eleni@bikesiliconvalley.org.

More Information

Once registered, volunteers will be contacted using the information provided during your registration. If you have any questions, please email eleni@bikesiliconvalley.org.
