Volunteer Position Descriptions:

NAVIGATORS: **MOST CRITICAL NEED - Need 150-200 people** Volunteer navigators are paired one-to-one with a person experiencing homelessness to help them navigate the event. As a navigator, you will play an important role in making guests feel welcome and comfortable, learning their needs and helping them get the services they need. If this is your first time as a navigator for Project Homeless Connect KC, you will receive mandatory training as a part of your shift.

GENERAL/SPECIALTY: As a general volunteer, you’ll help where help is needed most. Whether it’s lunch setup, jumping in to help with line management, managing hair "appointments", helping with event logistics or many other areas. These volunteers should be willing to move to different service areas whenever necessary. If this is your first time volunteering at this event, you will receive training as a part of your shift. This shift is suitable for volunteers under 18 with signed waiver.

CHECK-IN/OUT: The check-in and check-out section is the client entry and exit point. Volunteers assist clients by discussing available service options and filling out a check-in form. Training is offered and recommended.

PRE-EVENT (two shifts available - night before & morning of): **Heavy lifting required.** The night before the event and early morning on the day of, volunteers are needed to assist with set-up. Duties range from setting up service areas to moving tables to assembling hygiene kits to posting signage. This shift is suitable for volunteers under 18 with signed waiver.

POST-EVENT: (same day teardown) This service is a good option for those who can leave work a little early but are unable to take the entire day off. The shift take place at the end of the event, and duties may include some heavy lifting. This shift is suitable for volunteers under 18 with signed waiver.

HEALTH HELPER: We offer multiple dental and medical services at the event. Part of our process is a medical check-in station where vitals are taken and recorded on guest-owned paper, forms are filled out, and an explanation of available services helps "triage" guests to a proper direction. If you are a health care worker that can take vitals (bring own stethoscope and wear scrubs) and willing to help with this station, please sign up and more details will be forthcoming.
