Volunteer Application for Jr. Camps Explore and Discover

We greatly appreciate you volunteering your time and efforts. We know it may seem odd to charge volunteers. However, the $25 we charge covers the cost of your background check. Due to the number of people we must utilize to fully staff a camp, this is necessary. Thank you for your understanding.

As a matter of course, there are a few items we need to remind you of before you apply. Your cooperation with the items listed below is required for volunteering for Children’s Ministry. Keep in mind, while on the campground you are a representative of the TN District and are expected conduct yourself as such.

* You must be 21 years of age.

*You must be filled with the Holy Ghost and baptized in Jesus' Name.

*You must be a faithful member of your church and live a Godly life in every area expected of a christian.

*You must be willing and able to care for other children beyond and as your own with the same capacity of care.

*You must be able to find care for other minor children not attending as campers in your home while you are away at camp. Unfortunately, we are not able to accommodate any other children than those registered as campers due to safety and liability concerns.

*I understand that a staff members’ appearance is determined by the Platform Dress Guidelines of the TN UPC District (please see your pastor for details) and agree to comply. This means modest apparel on men and women both. Decent sleeves are required and no shorts, cutoffs or tank tops will be permitted. Skirts must reach below the knee when standing and sitting and not be overly tight and midriff cannot be exposed. Men must be clean shaven. No jewelry other than wedding rings and watches is permitted. We also do not permit makeup (facial, hands, feet or otherwise) for women or men and no clothing with symbols or sayings not consistent with Christian beliefs will be allowed. The one exception we are permitted to make because of the heat is women are not required to wear hosiery. If selected, I agree to follow all guidelines and directions issued by camp administration or to respectfully resign.

*I verify that I am able to climb stairs and steep hills, and can physically and emotionally care for young children.

*I understand I will not have the opportunity to work or complete school assignments while the campers are awake and active. Any secular job responsibilities or school work will need to be completed when the campers are in bed for the night and there is proper coverage for camper supervision.

*I understand I need to pay attention to the campers while I am supervising them and will be expected to not be on my phone or personal device while supervising children. Prolonged distraction by personal devices will result in reprimand and possibly dismissal from camp responsibilities.

*I declare that I have never been arrested nor implicated in any legal case involving child abuse, child molestation, child neglect, and I give my permission for a legal background check.

*Media Release policy: I hereby grant my permission to the TN District to use my child's image (photographs and/or video) without constraint or restriction for use in District publications including but not limited to: Videos, Email Blasts, Newsletters, Magazines, Website and Social Media.

*I understand I am applying to work a closed camp. No camper is allowed to leave the premises without permission from the camp administration only. Parents and guardians are only allowed on the campground during specific hours of each day, during evening services and are expected to vacate the premises within the boundaries indicated by said administration; I cannot grant these permissions. I also understand that should I need to leave early and take my child with me, I am to notify administration before I do so in order to prevent the perception that a child is missing.

*I hereby give my permission to be treated in the event of a medical emergency and am unable to give my consent. I agree to assume all responsibility for expenses not covered by insurance and I will in no way hold the UPCI Tennessee District or representatives of liable for any injury or harm. By submitting this application, you agree to these terms and verify that you are physically able to participate in normal camp activities. Should the need arise, your acknowledgement in the question section, authorizes camp staff to seek medical attention for you. Further, with your acknowledgement in the question section, you release Camp Lake Benson, the UPCI of TN, The UPCI, and all staff and officials from any and all liability resulting from any injury that may occur.
