Do I need to bring an Apple Vision Pro to attend?

Accepted Answer

No, but we need a sufficient quantity of Apple Vision Pro owners to attend for hackathon teams to be productive. If we aren't seeing a sufficiently high number of device owners sign up, we'll probably have to temporarily suspend open registration and vet additional attendees to get the right mix.

Will I need to let other people use my Apple Vision Pro at the event?

Accepted Answer

Absolutely not. No attendee will be asked to lend their device to anyone or let other people use it unless they’re comfortable doing so. A wearable is a personal device. Please respect that many people won't be comfortable letting others use their device.

Why is this event $100?

Accepted Answer

This is a not-for-profit event. All money raised from attendees and sponsors goes towards the production of the event. We are charging $100 to guarantee that we can feed all attendees from Friday dinner through Sunday lunch. Any additional funds raised by sponsors will be used for giveaways.

Do I have to be a developer to attend?

Accepted Answer

No, there are opportunities for people with other skills appropriate to app teams to contribute, such as designers, animators, 3D modelers, sound engineers, and QA testers. What we need are people who are willing to join a team and build great apps for demo during the weekend.

Question 5

What if I don't want to join a team to build an app?

Accepted Answer

Solo contributions are welcome. Everyone attending is working on an app, whether as a solo effort or on a team. If you don't want to work on an app, then this isn't the event for you.

Question 6

What's the COVID policy?

We're following the latest guidance from the  Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the State of California, and Santa Clara County. Whatever those guidelines are at the time of the event will apply.

Why are you hosting this event on Easter Weekend?

Accepted Answer

This was the weekend we had available for the venue. We're sorry if the timing doesn't work for you based on any commitments you may have. Finding and reserving a venue this year was incredibly difficult and we're thankful for UCSC Silicon Valley Extension for opening their doors to our event.

Can minors attend?

Accepted Answer

Yes, but all minors must be accompanied by a legal guardian for the full duration of the event and have their own tickets.

Question 9

What's the refund policy?

Accepted Answer

Registration is non-refundable (no refunds), and all fees go to defray event costs.  If you register and can't make it, let us know and we can apply your registration fee to sponsor a student or diversity scholarship.
