Virtual Workshop: Drawing from Observation

Join us in the virtual classroom for an online drawing workshop!

Please select tickets then watch this event live via https://quickcenter.fairfield.edu/thequicklive/Join Museum Educator Kate Wellen for this calming workshop, featuring a series of guided observational drawing activities meant to encourage participants to slow down and become present in observing objects in the world around them. The workshop will begin with contour, blind contour, and continuous line drawing exercises to warm up the eye hand connection and to shift the focus toward the process of drawing what is being observed and away from judging the completed drawing. After warming up, participants will create a series of quick sketches of an object, from different angles, drawing just the shape(s) that make up the object without detail. The final drawing will be a longer, detailed drawing of an object from observation. No previous experience necessary!
