<h2>Logic model creation: developing and using a logic model to illustrate your program’s goals, activities, and results</h2><p>COVID-19 has impacted us all in different ways. While many organizations are urgently responding to communities to provide support, others have put their work on hold or are making innovative adjustments to adapt to safe social distancing guidelines. Whether your work has evolved to respond to the pandemic, or you are finding yourself with extra time to dust off and update your old logic model, The Improve Group’s upcoming 4-hour virtual workshop on logic models can benefit you. Following the workshop, you can register to spend additional one-on-one time working together with our trainers to develop your logic model. Our training meets you where you are—no previous logic model expertise required.</p><h3><strong>What is a logic model?</strong></h3><p>A logic model is a concise visualization of a program’s components and how they fit together to make change and achieve program goals. Logic models often guide evaluation and reporting activities. With “inputs,” “activities,” “outputs,” and “outcomes,” a logic model clearly and simply articulates where you are and where you are trying to go with your program. It contains three essential components:</p><ol><li>The <strong>inputs </strong>are the resources needed to make the program happen (the people, the funding, the materials, the space).</li><li>The <strong>activities </strong>are the things programs do to create change or achieve their goals.</li><li>The <strong>outputs </strong>and <strong>outcomes </strong>are the results of the activities. Outcomes can be listed by timeframe, too – for example, the short-term, intermediate, and long-term outcomes.</li></ol><h3><strong>Why do I need a logic model?</strong></h3><p>There are many benefits to having a logic model – here’s our top four:</p><ol><li>Communications – logic models can be used as valuable communications tools with external stakeholders. This allows you to easily demonstrate to funders and donors how your program or organization components achieve your desired outcomes.</li><li>Consensus Building – developing a logic model is an opportunity to build team consensus around what you are trying to achieve and how. This is especially important for keeping everyone on the same page as your programs or organizations are changing.</li><li>Program Planning – logic models can help articulate the program and inform programmatic decisions. As you consider new activities or strategies, you can test ideas against your logic model to ensure you are still achieving your desired outcomes. </li><li>Evaluation Planning – last but not least, logic models are instrumental in guiding evaluation and reporting activities because they articulate what will be measured to help determine your progress towards intended outcomes. </li></ol><p>You can watch this short video to learn more about these benefits: <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HHG7AXYTdlw&amp;t=2s" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">4 Reasons Logic Models are Essential to Your Program or Organization</a></p><h3><strong>What will I learn from this workshop?</strong></h3><p>You will leave the workshop with clear next steps of what you need to do to develop your logic model. During the two-part workshop, we will work with you to:</p><ul><li>Explore what a logic model is, what its key components are, and why coming to consensus on these components is essential to your program</li><li>Help you make decisions about what and who to include to develop a successful model</li><li>Start developing or refining your very own logic model! </li></ul><p>Following this two-part workshop, you can also register for 1 hour of <strong>One-on-One Assistance</strong> with one of our trainers. Recognizing that everyone is at different stages in their logic model journey, we can provide this support in a way that is most valuable and accessible to you and your schedule. This time could focus on continuing to develop content or reviewing and providing feedback on content.  </p><h3><strong>Event Logistics</strong></h3><p>This training is a two-part virtual workshop hosted in <a href="https://zoom.us/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Zoom</a>.  You will need a computer with a reliable high-speed internet connection to participate in the training (Smartphone not recommended). The course is structured as follows:</p><ul><li><strong>Day 1 (August 4, 2020; 9 AM – 11 AM CST)</strong>: Logic model overview; reviewing uses, key components, and examples</li><li><strong>Day 2 (August 6, 2020; 9 AM – 11 AM CST)</strong>: Drafting your logic model and next steps for application in your organization</li><li><strong>One-on-One Assistance (1-hour, time and date TBD)</strong>: For those who register, we will follow-up with you after the training to determine how we can best provide support in your logic model development</li></ul><h3><strong>Workshop fees:</strong></h3><p>We are currently offering this workshop at a discounted price in response to COVID-19.
