About this event

  • 4 hours

Virtual tours are led by staff educators and offer an in-depth close-looking experience at artworks in the collection, including some that are not on view in our galleries. Tours are discussion-based and involve interactive elements and activities.

Each tour is 60 minutes long, and are offered on Thursdays between 10am and 2pm. For the best possible conversation experience, we can accommodate classes of up to 25 students and request that students each have a personal device to join from. Virtual tours center around a crucial aspect of our Visitor Promise: that “Art is Conversation.”

After you complete this tour registration form, you will be contacted by a Walters staff member to confirm details.

Discover our Virtual Discussion Themes

  • Art is Conversation: Ancient Cultures:(Recommended for grades 2-12) Discuss 3-4 objects from ancient times that may represent cultures in Egypt, Greece, Rome, the Americas, and Asia. Students will explore big ideas and questions that draw connections between ancient objects and peoples to our own lives today.
  • Art is Conversation: Stories in Art:(Recommended for grades K-12) Discuss 3-4 objects chosen from anywhere within the Walters collection, framed by the guiding theme of storytelling. Students will uncover the histories and stories reflected in certain objects, investigate storytelling components such as characters and setting, and make connections to stories from our own lives.
