About this event

Kick off LGBTQ+ Pride Month with the National Portrait Gallery! In this interactive workshop we will critically examine issues of representation and agency in portraits of LGBTQ+ identifying sitters from the museum’s collection. Together we will use thinking routines and analysis to discover how portraiture can illuminate complex narratives in history and offer perspective on who gets to tell the American story.

The Portrait Gallery strives to provide programs that are accessible to all visitors. If you have questions about the accessibility of this program, or if you would like to request real-time captioning (CART), sign language interpretation, or any other accommodations, please contact npgeducation@si.edu. Two weeks' advance notice is appreciated for requesting accommodations.
