Greater New Orleans STEM is a regional collaborative between K-12, higher education, economic development, and business and industry institutions that are committed to improve the caliber of math and science education in our schools.Greater New Orleans STEM provides:Essential professional development training for K-12 science and math teachers,Proven education curriculum and activities that encourage hands-on learning experiences in the classroom for students,Support for out-of-classroom enrichment activities such as science fairs and robotics competitions.

Greater New Orleans STEM Initiative

Greater New Orleans STEM Virtual Summer Camps sponsored by Shell will offer students and teachers the opportunity to grow STEM skills, knowledge and become more aware of career opportunities in a variety of STEM fields including, but not limited to Robotics and Engineering. Participants can expect a fun and busy week which offers a virtual “hands-on” STEM learning, team building and critical skills in reasoning and analytical thinking that will offer students important career skills.  No prior experience is needed to participate, however, a computer device with a camera and internet access is needed.   
This year's Summer Virual STEM Camp will have three one-week sessions to choose from:

<H3>June 15-19 and July 13-17: Robotic Electrical Engineering (10:00am-Noon) *These two sessions are the same educational class, please choose which week of preference.</H3>

<H3 CLASS="MsoNormal">July 20-24: Out of this World NASA Astro Camp! (10:00am-Noon)</H3>

*Participating students will receive a kit of materials including a camp guide and directions for daily activities, and all electronic components needed for the camp and lab experiments!

Robotic Electrical Engineering
<H3>July 13-17</H3>
<H3 CLASS="MsoNormal">Grades 3-11</H3>
Campers will discover how engineering and programming work together to make new and exciting inventions and build technology skills while collaborating with others camp students online, all from the safety of home. Students will complete camp with an understanding of the electrical engineering process and have the tools they need to continue to practice what they've learned at home.
Participating students receive 2 hours of daily live instruction plus hands-on circuit building followed by self-paced circuit practice and challenges.
Some of the topics and activities include: voltage, current, resistance, schematic symbols, series and parallel circuits, batteries, switch types, motors, buzzers, photocells, diodes, RGB LED, capacitors, SCR, and integrated circuits.

Out of this World NASA Astro Camp! July 20-24 Grades 5-8 Join GNO STEM'S NEW Virtual NASA  ASTRO CAMP®!  Your mission is to explore the exciting world of space travel through Astrophysics, Earth Science, Heliophysics, and Planetary Science.  Learn about gravitational waves and the engineering design process. Search for signs of life on the "Road to Mars," explore the Life Cycle of Stars, design your own mission patch, and MORE!
