Aperçu

Bestselling novelist Matthew Dicks, Moth Grand Slam Champion, teaches personal storytelling.

Internationally bestselling novelist, author of Storyworthy: Engage, Teach, Persuade, and Change Your Life Through the Power of Storytelling, and 43-time Moth StorySLAM winner and 6-time GrandSLAM champion Matthew Dicks will be teaching a day-long workshop on the art and craft of storytelling. This is a workshop designed for a wide range of people, including those with little or no previous storytelling experience.

Want to tell stories at The Moth? Improve your presentation skills? Increase sales? Deliver brilliant commencement speeches? Engage your students? Write better stories? Entertain your friends? Simply try something new?

Or perhaps you’re looking to take advantage of the healing power of storytelling? The ability to turn a moment of challenge or trauma into something meaningful and beneficial? This workshop may be for you.

Included will be:

• Strategies to find and develop stories from your own life

• Step-by-step methods to craft stories that are engaging, surprising, suspenseful, humorous, and connective

• Simple, repeatable, easily applied strategies to improve every story you tell

• Performance techniques to help you remember and tell your stories

This is a no-risk, low stakes introduction to storytelling that does not require students to tell stories or even speak if that’s what they prefer. If you’d like to dip a toe into storytelling and learn some of the most effective, easiest applied strategies to the finding and crafting of stories but you’re not yet ready to stand before an audience and speak, this workshop is a safe place for you to learn.
