Training Description:

Engaging and including fathers is critical for programs that are focused on building strong children and families. This Virtual Father Engagement Training will teach Best Practices for Recruiting and working with fathers, including why, how, where, and when to best engage fathers. This training will be delivered using Zoom. The link will be sent to attendees prior to the training.

During this session attendees will also learn proven strategies from model programs throughout the US. Below are the learning objectives for the training.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Teach 5 Best Practices for Recruiting and Working with fathers.
  2. Help atttendees understand the unique needs of fathers.
  3. Equip attendees with new fatherhood tools and strategies that will lead to increased father engagement, enrollment, and participation in agency services.

Trainer Information:

This training will be led by Patrick J. Patterson, MSW, MPH, president of Global Partners for Fathers and Families, LLC. Mr. Patterson is an award-winning fatherhood trainer, speaker, advocate, and influencer of change for fathers, men, boys, and families nationally and internationally. As a fatherhood leader, Mr. Patterson has launched and managed community, statewide, and national fatherhood programs during his 20-year career, including serving as manager for the National Responsible Fatherhood Clearinghouse during the administrations of President George W. Bush, President Barack H. Obama, President Donald J. Trump, and President Joseph R. Biden. Patrick has conducted fatherhood trainings in 48 states and 9 different countries during his career. He is also co-author, with his daughters, of the popular children’s book entitled “I Love When Daddy Reads to Me” which can be found on Barnes and Nobles, Target, Wal-Mart, and Amazon websites.

He earned a Bachelor of Social Work Degree from Benedict College (Columbia, SC) and dual master’s Degrees in both Social Work and Public Health from the University of South Carolina.
