Viriditas: The Power of Green

We continue celebrating Ancora’s 20th Anniversary year with Viriditas! This in-person event will be held at Woodlawn Hall in the Green Lake area in Seattle, WA, USA. Our concert takes its title from the chant O nobilissima viriditas of Hildegard von Bingen and explores repertoire celebrating spring and summer as a time of renewal and refreshment from the time of Hildegard to the present day, illuminating the green thread that connects healing and life to nature.

The first half of the concert features groupings of music that include a chant, motet, or anthem on the same theme. The second half features spring and summer selections from Ralph Vaughn Williams’ Folk Songs of the Four Seasons, a work that captures the pastoral delight of the green meadows and the creatures that dwell there. Viriditas takes place at 7:00 pm on June 15, 2024 at Woodlawn Hall and is the second in our three-concert series celebrating 20 years since Ancora’s founding in 2004.
