By what criteria will we be judged?

Founders will be scored on their ability to:
1. communicate effectively and creatively...
2. articulate the problem they are solving,
3. articulate their solution to that problem,
4. articulate their unique value proposition
5. respond during the audience Q&A.

How should I prepare?

Sign up for a VIP Group Coaching session to practice and get feedback on your elevator pitch. You can also check out 90-second pitches on YouTube!

Can I pitch more than once?

Accepted Answer

If you have not won a Pitch Night prize, you are permitted to pitch again. However, priority will be given to applicants who have not pitched before.

Question 4

Can I pitch with a co-founder?

Accepted Answer

Yes, but you and your cofounder will have to pitch your business/idea in the allotted time.

Question 5

Can we submit or use slides for our pitch?

Accepted Answer

We are not accepting slides or any other materials. Pitch nights are meant to be informal sessions where founders practice communicating their ideas clearly.

What are the prizes?

Accepted Answer

We are offering awesome prizes this term. Come on down to find out what they are. There will be two winners each night -- audience choice and judges' choice.

Question 7

Who are the Pitch Night judges?

Accepted Answer

The judges for each competition will be sourced from Venture Lab staff and the greater Penn community. Similar to pitching to investors, the judges will have varying degrees of familiarity with your intervention's industry.

Do I need to have a fully developed business idea to participate?

Accepted Answer

Not necessarily. Pitch practice sessions can be valuable at any stage of your startup journey, from ideation to execution.

Question 9

Will there be mentors or experts available to provide feedback?

Accepted Answer

Contestants will receive feedback from the audience via the polling tool.

Also, the VIP-C program offers group coaching sessions facilitated by our advisors. We welcome you to register for these sessions where you can receive feedback on your pitch, ideas, and venture as a whole.
