About this event

  • Event lasts 28 days 2 hours

Join Dr. Brian Van Brunt for a five-part, live, online certification series addressing violence risk and threat assessment in workplaces, schools, colleges, and universities. These classes will be offered over Zoom from 10 am –12 pm PT on Mondays in July. Classes will be recorded and made available for those who are unable to attend a session due to scheduling conflicts. Attendees will receive access to the Pathways Triage and Darkfox Violence Risk and Threat Assessment systems through June 2025. Group rates are available; email bethany@dprep.com

Classes will use new case studies to teach core concepts and allow time for interactive discussion and reflection. These case studies will address universal threat assessment concepts and will be drawn from workplace, K-12, and college settings. Optional case assignments will be given between each session to allow participants to further hone their skills. Supplemental resources, including research articles, checklists, informational one-sheets, discussion questions, and training exercises, will be provided.

During his career, Dr. Van Brunt has authored over a dozen books on the topic of violence risk and threat assessment and has been an invited plenary speaker to the Association of Threat Assessment Professionals (ATAP) and the Canadian Association of Threat Assessment Professionals CATAP). Brian was a major contributing author of the NABITA Risk Rubric and the creator of the SIVRA-35 Assessment Tool, the Violence Risk Assessment of the Written Word (VRAWW), the Non-Clinical Assessment of Suicide Tool (NAS), the Incel Indoctrination Rubric (IIR), and the Extremist Risk Intervention Scale (ERIS). Along with Bethany Smith, he has developed the Pathways Triage System and the DarkFox Violence Risk and Threat Assessment System, which is also currently licensed to ICS as a tool for making Title IX interim separation decisions.
