About this event

Washington State Office of Public Defense (OPD), as a part of its Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP) grant to provide social workers to defense attorneys working in Benton/Franklin County Juvenile Court, is bringing together a panel of practitioners who focus on violence intervention and prevention. The Walk About Yakima (WAY) program will be centered in this discussion as an example of a neighboring region that is looking towards new collaborations and strategies to reduce violence in their community. This roundtable discussion will focus on strategies for working with youth at risk of being victims or perpetrators of violence, involving families in interventions, strategies to reduce violence at a community wide level, and opportunities to pursue similar approaches in the Tri-Cities.
