"Video Express" assembles the video and film work of C.B. Evans, Aria Dean, Shigeko Kubota, and Martine Syms.

Video Express

Taking its title from Shigeko Kubota’s screening program that took place 50 years prior, Video Express assembles the video and film work of four artists. The centerpiece of the program is C.B. Evans’ Reality or Not, which provides the thematic framework for the program: reality.

Each artist in the program handles the malleable and permeable conditions of reality and its representation in moving images.

The screening program will take place at Château Shatto, which will assume the form of a movie theatre for the evening. Los Angeles’ singular industrial contributions to shaping reality via narrative film making in the 20th and 21st centuries and the clear view of the Hollywood sign from the entrance to the gallery lend ambient definition to the program.
