VESSEL is an art gathering with musicians, performers, dancers, visual artists and light designers in a hidden venue on Saturday, May 27th.

VESSEL is a transdisciplinary art residency dedicated to collaboration and experimentation. Gathering fifteen musicians, performers, dancers, visual artists and light designers in a hidden venue in the centre of Berlin, the project proposes an open day on Saturday, May 27th with concerts, performances and installations. As an indication, the venue is located near the Spree between S-Ostbahnhof and S-Jannowitzbrücke. The address will be communicated by email the day before. The entry fee is 10 euros, with an additional 5 euros to get membership to the association that runs the space. The venue operates as an informal cultural centre and we ask all our attendees to be respectful of the space and the community there; parts of the building have private studios that are off-limits for guests. Any issues related to racism, homophobia, transphobia, misogyny, ableism, ageism and other kinds of fascism will lead to a request to leave the space.

:: Accessibility ::VESSEL is an audiovisual event that involves experimental music concerts with live drums, acoustic instruments like trumpets and saxophones, and electronics. The visual part involves self-made video projectors and performances by dancers, with a DIY aesthetic based on liquid oil painting, shimmery fabrics, and shadow art. Several spaces will be used for the shows, which are large enough to comfortably host our guests standing or sitting on the floor. A quiet room with soft lighting, sofas and armchairs will be arranged and we can also provide chairs for the concerts upon request. A large bar and chillout area will also offer couches and armchairs for resting. Corridors and halways might get crowded during intermissions. The exact programme is not yet available and will emerge as the residency carries along.The artists might use smoke machines and strong / flickering lights in some of the performances. The venue is partially smoke-free, with access to a large outdoor area. A bar with alcoholic, soft beverages and food will be available on-site and drinking water will be provided always.The venue, 90mil, is wheelchair accessible with a short ramp at the front door. It has wheelchair-accessible bathrooms with large doors and one handle near the toilet. The nearest S and U-Bahn station is Jannowitzbrücke, which has an elevator and an escalator along with floor signaletics (Blindenleitsystem).We welcome all assistants to our guests with reduced mobility, free of charge, and also welcome assistance dogs. It is possible to park a car on the grounds of the venue with advance notice. :﻿: Artists ::Diane Barbé (she/they)Weaving together experimental music, biophonic research and activism, Diane explores human and non-human worlds through sound. Tereza Bartůňková (she/her)Based in Prague, Czech Republic, her artistic practice encompasses drawing, graphic arts, photography, set and costume design, light design, and audiovisual media. She is particularly interested in the relationship between the body and the natural environment, as well as the affective power of light and atmospheres. In her collaborations with leading Czech theatres as well as experimental venues and artists across Europe, she creates illustrations, as well as set, costume, and light designs to create ephemeral atmospheres, revealing hidden aspects of reality and transporting audiences into the inner landscapes of their subconscious. Tereza holds an M.A. in Scenography from the Department of Alternative and Puppet Theater at the Theatre Faculty of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague (DAMU). Her recent author projects, such as From the Ashes (2023), Aviary (2021), Dialogue (2016–2020), and Tamura (2018), reflect her commitment to experimentation with natural materials and structures through a range of drawing and printmaking techniques, as well as their translation into spatial environments in experimental performances and immersive installations. Laure Boer (she/her)Inspired by noise music and traditional folk, Laure’s performances are hypnotic improvisations around traditional instruments, electroacoustic and DIY-electronic objects, and sometimes a voice, singing or reciting in her native French; a vibrant universe that is both vulnerable and brutal.The Berlin-based multi-instrumentalist has worked with Rabih Beaini, Auspicious Family, Dj Die Soon, Diane Barbé, Luise Volkmann and many others and did several residencies such as Nusasonic in Manila/PH (CTM/Goethe Institut/Musicboard Berlin), and Sound Art Lab in Denmark, an institution in the former Bang&Olufsen laboratories.She played at the WSK Festival, Philippines, the Dokumenta fifteen, at ARTE TV and toured solo and in various duo and trio constellations in Poland, Czechia, Denmark, Sweden, France, and Spain.She is published by the labels Kashual Plastik, Chinabot, Otomatik Muziek, and The Wire Magazine. Jonathan Braun (he/him)The Berlin-based, Hanau-born, Jonathan Batomene Braun is a musician and sculptor of German-Congolese ancestry.In his daily practice, he plays an Altsaxophone and a quena flute, working on sound art, his own music, and traditional jazz music. Pablo Diserens (they/she)A field recordist, musician and artist, Pablo Diserens is devoted to non-human realities, attentive listening, and possible forms of interspecies coexistence. Through an ecologically engaged multidisciplinary creative practice, they investigate diverse biomes and acoustic occurrences with sonic and visual recording techniques.Their work blends sound, music, images, and text to emphasize listening gestures and interconnectedness. Here, sonic ecology, photographic, and electroacoustic forms bring the bio- and geological features of the explored environments to the foreground. By immersing listeners into environmental propositions and (sur)realities, publications, live performances, and installations bear the potential to inspire individuals to shift their perspective and sense of scale while experiencing otherness and alternative forms of being, ultimately making listening a political act.In solidarity with a wounded planet, Diserens’ practice invites people to attune to the present moment in an attempt at rethinking caring strategies and our relationship with the world and its biotic communities.Based in Berlin, Pablo Diserens is the co-founder/curator of forms of minutiae, a publishing platform for attuning listenings, electroacoustic music, sonic ecology and visual art. Germán Gabriel García (he/him)Trumpet player, improviser and composer born in Rosario, Argentina. Germán Gabriel García performs many art forms, including free improvisation and Neue Musik. García identifies with playing and listening to music in its diversity and entire sonar scope, focusing on the interconnectedness of perceiving, playing, interpreting and reinventing music. His experimental repertoire intertwines the trumpet with hybrid digital electronic sets and visual installations.Relocated in Berlin, García uses the city’s bustling music scene as a territory of exploration and discovery. Selu Herraiz (Selu/Munda)Munda is an experimental sound research and production project by Selu Herraiz that reflects on the contemporary relationships between daily life and ritual. The thin boundaries between science and magic are questioned through sound, investigating how new symbologies affect the human subconscious and determine our possible paths for transformation. Kirstine Elisa Kjeldsen (she/they)In the field of sound art, experimental music and artistic research, Kirstine Elisa Kjeldsen explores listening and sounding as ways to approach relation and perception.Through embodied feminist practices, Kirstine works with sound synthesis, improvisation and field recording as well as with handcraft and self-made electro-acoustic instruments.Kirstine has performed and shown work in contexts such as Documenta (DE), Inkonst (SE), Mózg (PL), Christiansborg Slotskirke (DK) and Silent Green (DE). Lea Moon (she/her)The Ukrainian interdisciplinary artist based in Berlin, Lea Moon works across performance, butoh dance, video installation and painting. Curator and co-founder of international performance art festivals such as “Carbonarium” and “Butoh Festival Ukraine”, she’s also an initiator of various cultural art projects like EnsoLab, an independent performance group.In her works, she explores the body movement and the influence of New media on it. She combines plastic performance with visual poetry through video and digital art. In collaborations with other artists, she has used tools such as Kinect, MindWave, lasers, and AI.The body is also a tool that can feel pain, experience emotions, and perform vital actions such as breathing. The body always interacts with space. It has a memory which it draws inspiration from. For one year the artist has been reflecting on the topic of war and how it has affected her physicality. Mia Oak (she/her)Outright believer that everything is political, this writer shoves socio-realism and the fantastic into the same pot, portraying the dystopian with a pinch of humour.In her poetry, novels, essays and scripts, the transgressive and the morally ambiguous are tools used to question ourselves and society and reinforce how individual and collective growth are interconnected.By collaborating with progressive political parties, NGOs and grassroots movements as a political and social impact communications specialist, she trusts in the power of words to enable people to turn the resources they have into the power they need to make the change they want.<a href="https://instagram.com/aim.kaos" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">instagram</a>

Madeleine Rose (she/her) This performance artist and creative director specialises in dance, choreography and voice. Originally from Australia, Madeleine Rose is currently based in Berlin.Rose performs with three musical projects - Public Display of Affection, Liquid Brain Orchestra and her own project The Mad Express - ranging from punk rock to experimental jazz to electronic music and spoken word.She recently took part in the ongoing performance of the Berlin ensemble 'Exil'. Maria Sécio (she/her) By embracing what some would have called errors, Maria's work is a raw capture of a phenomenon or a fantasy where the eloquence of memory and its fragile uncertainty are the playgrounds. Through sticking to analogue methods and using technological tools as bodily extensions, she explores the ropes of magical transhumanism as if both a cyborg and a fairy.After participating in residencies in Japan and Greece, she became part of the core of Countdown Grabowsee Residency where she ensures the creation of safe spaces for the participants to rest, talk, eat and meditate. These residencies sprouted an interest in reshaping her practice towards a more interdisciplinary field focused on collaborative work.She has also participated in various group exhibitions such as Weserhalle, Corona K 2020 and HOTMESS 2021. Joe Summers (he/him)Sound artist, instrument builder &amp; performance maker, Joseph Summers is primarily interested in the extramusical elements of music performance that modulate audiences' experiences of sound. Towards this goal he has designed &amp; constructed numerous experimental acoustic instruments, performing with them in the UK, Europe and Japan. Sebastian Steins (he/his)By exploring the intersections between narrative storytelling and glitch, using visual synthesisers to warp realities in his visual art as a filmmaker. Steins specialises in creating a visual identity for bands, artists, live arts and film.Currently working with many alternative indie rock bands and artists. His major influence is working alongside Lewis Lloyd, and the projects associated with their developments such as bands; Plattenbau, Public Display of Affection, and The Mad Express. Janberk Turan (JB/JayBees)The multi-instrumentalist and improviser, Janberk Turan (aka.
