We host series of events and launch initiatives to help grow the African technology ecosystem and extend opportunities to startup founders and entrepreneurs.
As the African start-up ecosystem continues to grow and investment options for entrepreneurs widen, we have chosen to focus on the nuances of running a company in Nigeria. It is generally known that the business climate in Nigeria differs greatly from a similarly comparable country like India, owing to the specific local insights and knowledge. To this effect, we are hosting a series of fireside chats this year that center around “local intelligence of doing business in Nigeria. 
Details of the first event are:
A.        The Dialogue Series on “Local intelligence of doing business in Nigeria” with Mohammed Garuba, CardinalStone.
<A HREF="https://www.cardinalstone.com/finance/board_details.php?director=7" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Mohammed Garuba</A> is one of the founding partners of CardinalStone and has served as the Managing Director of its Asset Management Division since 2008. He will be enlightening entrepreneurs on local intelligence of doing business in Nigeria and the unique nuances of the Nigerian business climate. He will also shed light on the factors to consider when conducting business transactions with several partners in the value-chain, e.g., government institutions, suppliers, contractors, service providers, etc, to building &amp; selling companies and financing projects and businesses. 
 B.        The Dialogue Masterclass on “Understanding Term sheets” by Eghosa Omoigui, Managing partner, EchoVC Partners.
This masterclass has been designed to help entrepreneurs and service providers better understand term sheets by exploring and using personal experiences, and the difficulties investors encounter to navigate the murky waters of a venture capital transaction when fund raising. The aim of the masterclass is aimed at driving knowledge and understanding of venture capital transactions and ensure entrepreneurs and service providers are better equipped when negotiating deal terms. <A HREF="http://www.echovc.com/team/" TARGET="_blank" TITLE="Eghosa Omoigui" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Eghosa Omoigui </A>will walk participants through the legal and commercial intricacies of drafting and negotiating a term sheet.
Participants are expected to read Chapters 3 - 7 of the <A HREF="http://diyhpl.us/~bryan/venture-deals.pdf" TARGET="_blank" TITLE="Venture Deals" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Venture Deals </A>book by Brad Feld and Jason Mendelson (and where possible the entire book), as they will be required to draft a term sheet during the master class to ensure knowledge transfer.

This event is scheduled to hold on Thursday the 5th of April 2018 by 5pm at Seedspace 23 Agodogba Ave, Parkview Estate, Ikoyi, Lagos. ATTENDANCE IS FREE FOR ALL ENTREPRENEURS, WHILE SERVICE PROVIDERS ARE REQUIRED TO PAY A ENTRY FEE OF N5,000.
