Today, a designer is a thinker, maker, producer, collaborator, and entrepreneur. Graphic design has never been a more inclusive discipline than it is right now and designers are engaged in more creative, technological, and ambitiously diverse enterprises than ever before. MFA Design / Designer as Entrepreneur is the program that instills confidence; inspires, prepares, and encourages designers to conceive, create, brand and market their own inventions.

<DIV><SPAN>The School of Visual Arts MFA Design: Designer As Author + Entrepreneur Program launched in 1998 as an alternative to traditional masters programs. Students delve into their own passions, design original content, and develop market-ready ventures. </SPAN></DIV>

<DIV>The theme, Beyond Design, explores the exciting new wave of designed, multi-platform concepts produced by these design entrepreneurs. </DIV>

<DIV><SPAN>At the MFA Design 2017 Thesis Forum, 19 graduating students will present their innovative design enterprises. Each is a product of intensive coursework, research, and consultation — shaped by personal experience and elevated by the program’s central focus on the thoughtful leverage of visual and entrepreneurial strategy.</SPAN></DIV>

<DIV><SPAN>We warmly welcome our colleagues in the design and business communities, the press, and the interested public to join us on April 11th at the SVA Theatre for a venture beyond design, and into the boundless potential of design entrepreneurship.</SPAN></DIV>
