Unlovable, produced by validBodies arts project, INC

Beckmann Theatre, American Theatre of Actors 2nd Floor (Elevator, Wheelchair Accessible)

May 29th - June 1st

Unlovable is a poignant exploration of the intricate web of relationships that define our existence, delving deep into how personal traumas can strain these bonds. Yet, at its core, it is a testament to the transformative power of love and understanding, illustrating that healing can emerge from the most unconventional paths.

Drawing inspiration from the life experiences of playwright Niveka Hobaichan, as well as the myriad artistic influences that have resonated with them, this play has evolved into a narrative that resonates deeply with audiences. Through the unwavering support of friends and extensive workshopping, Unlovable has matured into a story that offers connection and reflection to all who experience it.

vBap is a pioneering non-profit dedicated to bridging representation gaps in the arts. We believe that art and culture are only productive to society if those intentionally marginalized can reclaim their place at the table. Now more than ever, the arts, queer art especially!, need your support.

Frequently asked questions

Is this show appropriate for all ages?

No. Although the message of transcending self hate and embracing love is for everyone! ...this play has some racy scenes, intimacy, and staged BDSM. No nudity. Consider this a PG-13 movie--no one under 13 can come at all, and no one under 18 without a parent.

What is the distinction between the two ticket options?

The first row tickets are just that--the first four seats on either side of the stage. The stage is semi in the round, with two audiences halves stage left and stage right. A group larger than 4 would not necessary be sat together, even if they purchased all 8 front row seats.

Is the space wheelchair accessible?

Yes, but please call the theater at (212) 581-3044 to make sure the ramp is set up outside on street level. This must be done in advance and not last minute, as per the theater's requests.
