This class teaches the use of a variable power optic on a rifle for greater precision and range

This class will teach you to employ the optically enhanced carbine when necessary at distance of 100 yards, 200 yards, 300 yards or greater. It will also challenge your ability to run the same equipment quickly and efficiently at under 50 yards. This is an exciting and challenging course. We will explore the capabilities and the limitations of this extended range tool. This course was developed and is presented by experienced, and professionally credentialed instructors who can effectively help you learn knowledge and skills to help you attain your mid-range optically enhanced rifle training goals. You will be guided and encourage to develop efficient techniques and effective habits. Equipment Requirements: Rifle with Sling and Optic (shooter/rifle with optic/&amp; ammunition should be capable of at least 4MOA accuracy or better from a supported position. Seriously, it would be ideal if you can group less than 2” no more than 4” at 100 yards or it will be a frustrating day for you. 250 Rounds of quality ammunition (more is better). No armor piercing, No bimetal. Quality BTHPs are the way to go on this, make sure your ammunition is compatible with your barrel’s rate of twist for 5.56 caliber guns, 69gr and 77gr are recommended. Thirty calibers who want to ring steel are invited too. Max caliber permitted is .308/7.62 168gr or 175gr are recommended. If you don’t load your own quality ammunition, we suggest Black Hills or Federal Match or equivalent. Rifle mat, rear bag, artificial support are all great ideas – bring them if you got them.While not a requirement – good quality spotting scopes will be invaluable. We will work in spotter/shooter pairs. Everyone will be required to spot either on your gun or on a spotting scope. A lawn chair is also a great idea.Rugged dependable bipods (Harris or similar quality) will be invaluable.Data book. It does not need to be fancy. Our favorite is a simple Write in the Rain 3”x5” or 5”x8” spiraled note pad.Empty chamber/open bolt indicator.Your rifle needs to be zeroed. A 100 yard zero is recommended. Your scope needs to be installed at correct eye relief and must be properly leveled. If you do not understand these terms and their importance, we recommend that you go to Elite Shooting Sports and see Rob Jensen before class. He can square you away. Bring your scope&#x27;s owner’s manual to class, especially if you think you may need help in adjusting your optic. Optic/Scope recommendations – target turrets and MOA or MIL reticles will work best. Throw levers are a good accessory for most variable power optics.There will be a lot of walking. You should be able to walk at least two thousand yards throughout the course of the day with all the equipment you intend to employ. Arrangements can be made to help with this requirement if necessary.Ballistic rated eye and ear protection (electronic amplified is highly recommended), not mandatory but also highly recommended is a brimmed cap.Topics to be covered: •	Mindset – critical aspects of familiarity and confidence•	Rifle Accuracy Fundamentals (to include positions)•	Angular Measurement &amp; Shooter Math•	Zero•	Shot Calling•	Data Book Use•	Sling Use•	Artificial Support Utilization•	Effects of Wind•	Role of the Spotter•	Know Distance Firing (100, 200, 300 Yard and Unknown Distance Targets, if time permits)<ul><li>Shooting Evaluation (Qualification)</li><li>Decision Making (Shoot/No Shoot) Exercise</li></ul>Attendance Considerations: This is not designed as a student’s first course and it is certainly not introductory level material. Verification of previous training is not required but honest self-assessment is. We do stress the fundamentals and highly encourage all that choose to employ a firearm for self-defense to pursue excellence in its use. At a minimum to attend you must know and should be able to follow at all times the 4 Cardinal Rules of Firearms safety, you also need to be familiar, comfortable and basically proficient with operating your rifle and adjusting your optic, knowledge of your firearms manual of operation specifically how to safely load it, and unload it, open the action and keep the action open is necessary. An open mind and a willingness to be challenged, to learn and to improve are desirable. Train hard! We hope to see you on the range.
