The Mission ofThe Valley Economic Allianceis to elevate the economic vitality and stability of our five-city region (Calabasas, Burbank, Glendale, Los Angeles and San Fernando) by assisting San Fernando Valley Business, Education, and Government Communities.

The Valley Economic Alliance’s fourth Valley Hackathon returns to Glendale on Friday, September 21st at the Downtown Central Library’s Auditorium from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Valley Hackathon IV is recruiting high school and college students to the technology competition to develop concepts and solutions to a real world issue that is revealed at the event.
Teams will pitch their final ideas to a panel of industry experts for a chance to win first, second and third place sponsored prizes. This event is part of City of Glendale’s Tech Week. The event ends with an internship fair exclusively for Hackathon participants. 
We are recruiting high school (9-12th grade) and college students interested in: 
Information Technology, Coding, Website Development/Design, Mobile Application/Design, Computer Science, Graphic Design, Communications and Marketing.

Valley Hackathon IV is recruiting high school (9-12) and college students only.
</LI>
<LI>
Interested participants must complete the Eventbrite application. An email confirmation will be sent to your email directly after application is recieved. (Pre-registration is required. No Walk-ins) 
</LI>
<LI>
Participants must bring their own laptop &amp; flash drive to the event. You will need to use PowerPoint &amp; Microsoft Excel. (Electrical outlets will be available for your use at the event.)
</LI>
<LI>
Wi-Fi will be available and information will be shared at the event. 
</LI>
<LI>
Competition challenge will be revealed at the event.
</LI>
<LI>
First, Second &amp; Third Place winning teams will be selected by a panel of judges &amp; win sponsored prizes. Prizes will not be announced prior to event. All participants will recieve a gift-bag. 
</LI>
<LI>
Continental breakfast &amp; lunch will be served. 
</LI>
<LI>
Transportation will not be provided. Parking is available at the Marketplace parking structure (across the street from the Library, on Brand and Harvard). 3 hour free parking with Library validation. Validate at Library’s main desk.

Bring copies of your resume! There will be an Internship Fair from 4pm-5pm where you may meet your next employer. The Internship Fair will be in the same location as the Hackathon. 
</LI>

The event will be filmed and photographed. If you are under 18 years old, you will need to have a minor photo/video release form completed by a parent, guardian or representative from your school.
