About:

In 2023, Shalyn Grow and Asya Hildenbrand created a short film competition for southern Indiana high school students. This March, they hosted the competition for a second time, and they are excited to screen select films at the TCCC Black Box Theatre! Alongside the films, the event will also feature a keynote speaker and a Q&A with student filmmakers.

Films were scored by a panel of six industry professionals, most of whom are from southern Indiana. The judges were selected to provide constructive feedback and mentorship to students interested in pursuing film/tv as a career. Ten teams competed from four different high schools: Jasper, Springs Valley, Southridge, and Pike Central.

This year's keynote speaker is Evansville native, Josh Riedford. Josh is a film and music producer and co-owner of the production company Mr. Pictures alongside writer/director David McCracken. He has produced numerous short films as well as the award-winning 1970s-inspired thriller feature film Bullitt County, which premiered in AMC Theatres nationwide in 2018 and was released on Netflix in 2019. Josh currently produces and edits several podcasts while focusing most of his energies on the webseries The Stephen Kingdom.

Can't wait to see you there!
