This is a new 2.5 hour training that aims to understand the process of becoming abusive in relationships and understanding the impact of abusive personalities on trauma.

TITLE: THE ABUSIVE PERSONALITY

DATE and TIME: Thursday May 16, 2024 ~ 9:00 AM - 11:30 AM EST

SUMMARY: The workplace is yet another area in our society that has flown under the radar screen when it comes to the role it plays in combating domestic violence. This course of study is geared towards the workplace be it public or private; large or small. The course will educate the student on domestic violence and how it impacts the workplace. The course will teach the students, as well as their perspective entities, how they can do their part in helping maintain victim safety as well as promoting batterer accountability.

OBJECTIVES:

  • Explore the role that domestic violence plays in violence in the workplace
  • Discuss the legal responsibility the workplace has to make the workplace safe
  • Learn how to address violence in the workplace

Certificate of Training, Social Work CEUs and Academic Credits:

RVAAM selected curriculum has been approved for specific professions (e.g. social work, law enforcement, corrections, probation/parole) Upon completion of an online evaluation form, participants are welcome to request a Certificate of Training; Social Work Category I Continuing Education Units (CEUs), and/or academic credits. All participants are eligible to receive a Certificate of Training (1 credit per training hour).

In order to receive a Certificate of Training, participants video cameras must remain on during all V-STEP Webinar trainings.

Roper Victim Assistance Academy of Maryland (RVAAM) provides basic training twice a year (40 hour curriculum).
