Do you want to display your commitment to keep UTD green? Do you want to improve the viability of the future? Sustainability Steward Training equips students, staff and faculty to implement sustainable practices on campus and in their personal lives.
By placing the Sustainability Steward logo on your computer or office door, you indicate that you value an equitable and efficient campus, strive to live sustainably, advocate for environmental justice and steward the earth.
You can become a Sustainability Steward by attending our three-part training series. This training will equip you with basic knowledge of sustainability and its dimensions. All UT Dallas members are encouraged to participate, ask questions and learn. Qualifying participants will receive a digital certificate and a sticker.
Upon completion, participants will be able to:
- Define sustainability using a global framework
- Engage in Office of Sustainability initiatives with ease
- Understand proper waste removal and recycling
- Assess life cycle analysis and hidden costs of production
- Identify trade-offs among different courses of sustainable action
- Examine the forces behind climate change
- Gain knowledge of environmental justice and steps to achieve it
- Examine personal environmental impact and set one sustainable goal
- Apply sustainable values informed by concepts of justice, equity, and responsibility
- Discover the intersection of their talents, interests and goals
- Develop civic responsibility in and around UT Dallas
