    8:30-9:30 - The Law of Artificial Intelligence (Biden Administration Order and EU Artificial Intelligence Act)

    Barbara Bagnasacco and Steve Lau will provide a general overview of the most relevant laws currently governing Artificial Intelligence. They will also discuss at a high-level important aspects of the 2023 U.S. Executive Order 14110 on the “Safe, Secure, and Trustworthy Development and Use of Artificial Intelligence,” and offer a comparison of the approach of the new European Union Artificial Intelligence Act and that of the Executive Order, and refer to emerging State laws in the United States.

    12:00-1:00 - Above and Beyond: Complying with the New EEOC Guidance on Harassment in the Workplace and Creating Exceptional Workplace Culture

    A harassment-free culture is fundamental to a professional and civil workplace. Nonetheless, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission reports that harassing conduct remains a serious workplace problem, so much so that recently, on April 29, 2024, it issued new guidance for employers. Nicole Farrell and Sara Jones will analyze why harassment remains an issue today, even in the era of remote work, review examples of what is considered harassing conduct, and discuss what companies need to know to protect themselves from liability.
