Using Poll Everywhere to Target Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS)
Event Information
Description
Mike Overholt will demonstrate how we can use PollEv not only to check student comprehension but also increase their skills in applying, analyzing, and evaluating information. The value of using PollEv in this capacity has recently increased because College of Charleston faculty now have the ability to link PollEv testing as quantitative assessments in the OAKS gradebook. Substantial evidence supports these sorts of metrics, claiming student response systems can increase information retention and student engagement, encourage student participation, and level the playing field for first-generation college students--especially when responses count in the gradebook. As always, participants will receive a complimentary cup of homemade ice cream.
