Descriptive talking is used with children who need to learn how to communicate strategically because they are not sufficiently literate to spell words not provided within their AAC systems. Collaborative strategies are provided to help implement descriptive talking in special and general education classrooms.Target Audience: Special and General Educators, Speech-Language Pathologists, ParentsLEARNER OUTCOMES:At the conclusion of this presentation, participants should be able to:<ol><li>Discuss the importance of core vocabulary to implement descriptive teaching.</li><li>Define the difference between Referential Talking and Descriptive Talking.</li><li>Develop a curriculum lesson to teach lesson content descriptively and promote descriptive talking with students during the lesson and when testing learning following the lesson.</li></ol>FORMATThis online event will be hosted using the Zoom video conferencing platform.
