The U.S.Export Control Compliance Program (this event will be bilingual in English and Chinese)

A lot of changes are happening in the export control area lately. Since April 28, 2020, the U.S. Department of Commerce Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS) has made at least five announcements altering export control policy. These actions will have significant implications for U.S. and non-U.S. companies that have business relationships with Huawei and many of its affiliates, identified entities on the Entity List, companies which previously relied upon the CIV license exemption, and other companies that export, re-export, and transfer items intended for military end-use or military end-users. Companies in the export business should be aware of the changes and their implications, and vigorously examine their export compliance program to ensure compliance. Please join us with a talk on the U.S. Export Management and Compliance program with our distinguished guest Dixon F. MILLER, the senior partner from Porter Wright. This event will cover the contents below and beyond:
•	The difference between export and trade restrictions
•	The complexity of export controls: three major categories
•	Compliance measures
Dr. Dixon F. MILLER 
Dixon F. MILLER is admitted to practice in Ohio and Florida and is certified by the Florida Bar as Board Certified in International Law. Dixon practices primarily in the area of international law, with a concentration on transactions involving German-speaking clients. He is bilingual in German, including German legal terminology. His fluency in German and his representation of foreign clients in the U.S. have been broad, including work in commercial litigation, international tax and estate planning, real estate transactions, immigration, and other areas. Dixon’s representation of U.S. investors abroad has been primarily in agency and distributorship, international estate planning, joint ventures, licensing, franchising, and international tax planning. Dixon has twice chaired the International Law Certification Committee of the Florida Bar and is named The Best Lawyers in America in the area of Corporate Law. He frequently speaks on international law topics and has been published in both the United States and Germany. He received his J.D. from Case Western Reserve University. Dixon Miller is co-author of the chapter on International Estate Planning.

Attorney Sunny, the senior counsel at Porter Writer, will facilitate this event. Attorney Sunny Yang is a corporate attorney who focuses on international business matters and trade. 
Moderator: Miss Hong Zhang 
Miss Hong Zhang is the secretary-general of the Alumni Association of the Southwest University of Political Science and Law U.S. She graduated from the School of International and Public Affairs from Columbia University. She also holds maters of Laws both from China and the United States.
