Welcome to Urban Sounds Music Camp!

Experienced middle school musicians are invited to join us at First Congregational Church, UCC for a week filled with music, fun, and learning. At our camp, we believe in the power of music theory as the foundation of musical excellence. Dive into the fundamentals of music theory through interactive classes designed to deepen your understanding of rhythm, harmony, melody, and more. Our curriculum is crafted to challenge and inspire middle school aged student musicians.

Experience the thrill of making music in a supportive and inclusive environment, where you'll collaborate with fellow campers to create stunning performances. From classical masterpieces to contemporary hits, our repertoire spans a diverse range of genres to broaden your musical horizons.

Located at First Congregational Church, our camp provides a welcoming and nurturing space for young musicians to flourish. Our dedicated faculty consists of experienced educators and accomplished performers who are passionate about guiding you on your musical journey.

Who is Urban Sounds Music Camp?

Hosted by The First Church Community Development Corp., The Urban Sounds Music Camp was born out of the expert teaching experience of Rev Dr. Dwight Andrews, Professor of Music Theory and African American Music at Emory University, and Dr. Isaiah Bell, music instructor for DeKalb County Schools.

What is the camp location and what are the hours?

The camp is located at First Congregational Church, 105 Courtland St NE in downtown Atlanta, GA 30303. Camp hours are Monday - Friday, 8AM - 2PM. Morning Drop-off starts at 7AM. An aftercare session is from 3PM - 6PM. The Aftercare late pick-up fee is an additional $10 per incident.

When does camp start? When is the Camp Concert?

The One-week Urban Sounds Music Camp starts Mon June 3rd at 8AM. The Camp Performance takes place Fri, June 7th, 6:30PM - 8:00PM at First Congregational Church.

What is the cost for the One-week camp?

Tuition for one Student is $150.00. Tuition covers a rigorous week of music instruction, meals (lunch and snacks), recreation activities, and a final performance. Family discounts and scholarships are available. Aftercare is $10.00 per day. More info: urbansoundsmusiccamp@gmail.com, (678) 355-8122

What are the materials required for learning?

All students are required to provide their own instrument. Instruments must be in good, working condition. Students are required to bring their own learning materials and equipment (instructional books, music stands, pencils).

What attire is required?

During camp, students are permitted to wear sleeved shirts, knee-length walking shorts, leggings, and pants. For performance, musicians will need a white shirt, black pants and white or black shoes/sneakers. No sagging pants, sleeveless shirts, dresses or skirts allowed.
