    Learning Outcome for Each Series:

    🟣(Starting June 9th) Series Level 1: Concentrates on building a strong foundation by teaching fundamental movements, core concepts, and fostering an understanding of basic musicality.

    🟡(Coming Soon) Series Level 2: Expands upon the core techniques learned in Level 1, encouraging students to explore variations in tempo, lane changes, and broaden their overall dance vocabulary.

    🔵(Coming Soon) Series Level 3: Emphasizes a comprehensive understanding of both dance roles, incorporating accelerations, encouraging creative expression, introducing directional changes, and honing the ability to execute precise movements in alignment with musical timing.

    🟢(Coming Soon) Series Level 4: Advances to more complex applications of musicality, delves into leading in different positions, explores intricate footwork, emphasizes visual leading/following, fosters independent critical thinking, and application of beginner, improver, and intermediate Urban Kiz core concepts and techniques to further enhance the dancer's skills and capabilities.

    If you want feedback on your practice or training videos from the instructor while in the series, you have two options:

    -Option one: Pay an additional $10 to submit one 30-second video of you practicing or training and receive personalized feedback.

    -Option two: Opt for a bundled deal and pay $30 for feedback on up to 4 videos, each no longer than 30 seconds.

    Congratulations to our exceptional Kiz Lab instructor Ini for his remarkable achievement coming in first place in Novice at the Jack and Jill competition at the 2023 Neo Kizomba Festival in Austin, Texas AND third place in Intermediate at the Jack and Jill competition at the 2023 OneKiz Festival in Dallas, Texas! We are immensely proud to celebrate this hard-working and dedicated dancer who has proven their skills both as a lead and a follow on the dance floor.

    Jessica Marie is the owner and creative director of The Kiz Lab LLC. A Black-Owned and minority led Urban Kiz dance organization located in the Bay Area, CA where they host classes, workshops, and events.

    Jessica Marie (she/her; vaccinated) started her dance journey in June 2017 in Texas. She has spent many years training and learning under some of the top instructors in the U.S. and abroad. ​(A special shoutout goes to Marietta Villalobos, Charles Ogar, and Adrian Soltero because they were crucial in developing Jessica Marie's foundation as a dancer!) These passion-driven and creative instructors fueled Jessica to travel, fostering her love for Kizomba and Urban Kizomba. She specializes in Tarraxinha, Tarraxo, and Urban Kiz. Additionally, she can teach and dance as a lead or a follow. She has taught as an instructor in multiple cities and states around the U.S. Jessica Marie is known for her attention to detail, her ability to break down complex material, and provide individualized feedback even when leading group classes. Her dance students also appreciate her approaches around inclusivity, mindset around consent, and her promoting of safe dance spaces. Jessica Marie’s background in psychology (as a fifth year PhD student) also creates a unique learning environment as she has the ability to see more than just the dancer in the room, but she is able to connect to the person in the room fostering a deeper connection and cultivating an optimal learning environment.
